Consumer Alert: ALERT for Summit Roofing & Contracting

• Summit Roofing failed to return to complete the promised repairs after receiving full payment
• Summit Roofing re-used old, damaged, or previously removed roofing materials instead of installing new materials as represented
• Summit Roofing left exposed holes, fasteners, and nails in the roofing system, creating ongoing water-intrusion risks
• Summit Roofing left defective workmanship throughout the roof, including unrepaired or improperly installed components associated with active leaks
• Required flashing and waterproofing components were not replaced or properly installed, despite being critical to stopping the leak
• The roof continued to leak after the work was represented as “completed,” demonstrating that the underlying problem was never corrected
• Known defects were concealed or ignored rather than disclosed or repaired

Based on revisions and additions, the complaint has been updated to include the Pennsylvania consumer-protection related violations:

• Pennsylvania Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act (HICPA)
  73 P.S. § 517.8
  Allegations included:
  • Misrepresentation of completed work
  • Accepting payment for services not properly performed
  • Failure to complete contracted repairs in a workmanlike manner
  • Concealment of known defects
  • Home improvement fraud / contractual fraud
• Pennsylvania Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law (UTPCPL)
  73 P.S. § 201-1 et seq.
  Allegations included:
  • Deceptive business practices
  • False or misleading representations
  • Conduct creating confusion or misunderstanding
  • Unfair or deceptive acts in commerce
